This Highland cattle greeting card features Among the Rushes, an original photograph of three members of our fold resting among rushes in the Cumbrian countryside.
Bumble, the largest member of the fold, is closest to the camera. His sweeping horns rise above the rushes, while two other Highland cattle rest farther back. Beyond them, green fields, mature trees and the Cumbrian fells stretch across the horizon.
Rather than separating the cattle from their surroundings, this photograph places them firmly within the landscape they graze. The rushes and rough pasture are an important part of the scene. Meanwhile, the distant fells give the image a strong sense of place.
A Highland cattle greeting card shaped by the landscape
We captured Among the Rushes during an everyday moment with the fold. The cattle had settled into the rough vegetation, where the tall rushes partly concealed them from view.
That setting gives the photograph much of its character. Bumble remains the main focal point, but the eye naturally travels beyond him towards the other cattle and the hills in the distance.
As a result, the image combines a close connection with the animals with a much broader view of their surroundings.
It makes a thoughtful card for anyone who enjoys Highland cattle, farming, rural life or the Cumbrian landscape.
You can also find Among the Rushes in our Highland cow fine art print collection.
Plenty of room for your own message
No occasion or message appears inside the card. Therefore, you can make it personal to whoever receives it.
Use it for a birthday, a thank-you or a congratulatory message. Alternatively, it works just as well for a handwritten note sent simply to keep in touch.
Each card comes with a brown Kraft envelope.
Heavyweight paper and a matte finish
We reproduce the photograph on 324gsm Mohawk Superfine Paper. Its smooth matte surface suits the natural tones and fine detail of the original image.
The card measures 7 x 5 inches (178 x 127 mm). Its landscape orientation also gives the wide composition and distant fells plenty of room.
