Snowfall is a ceramic Highland cow Christmas ornament featuring Merida beneath snowy fells, with falling flakes and a rich red coat at the centre of the design.
Merida faces forward, framed by sweeping horns and a long, tousled fringe. Snow settles along the coat, while stems of grass hang beneath the pale muzzle. Behind, a dry-stone wall crosses the scene and bare trees stand against white fields.
The broad landscape leaves room for the portrait to breathe. Merida’s coat supplies the warmest colour, set against the cool sky and distant slopes. The long hair and curved horns that make Highland cattle so recognisable remain the focus, even among all that snow.
We began with an original photograph of Merida from The Fringe And The Fold. From there, we adapted the photograph into a winter scene for this ornament. The snowy artwork is a seasonal interpretation of our image, rather than an unaltered photograph taken in these conditions.
In the foreground, snow gathers on evergreen sprigs and small red berries. These details add a festive touch without taking attention away from Merida. Higher in the picture, scattered snowflakes carry the winter atmosphere across the open sky.
Each ornament is printed to order on white ceramic. The natural gloss finish brings a soft sheen to the printed face, while the reverse stays blank white. The round shape measures approximately 7.5 cm across and includes an adjustable gold hanging string, ready for a place on the tree.
Snowfall suits someone who likes a clear cattle portrait as much as a winter landscape. It also offers a personal connection for anyone who knows Merida through our updates or enjoys following the fold.
